Why does every religion believe only they will go to heaven while all others wont?
Q. Why do these Christians keep believing that the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus? Thats just one particular fictional character for that religion. Every other religion has some other idea that they will go to heaven and everyone else who doesnt follow them will go to hell. What makes every religion believe only theirs is right while all others are wrong? Its just a mere accident at birth that you were this religion. Which belief could be right and which is wrong? I dont get how people could continue to believe in this while all the other religions are against them.

A. Most people like to hear that they are right, and they like to see themselves as superior. This is unfortunately one of the traits left over from the caveman days, a type of survival. Therefore, I believe that regarding religion, people like to see themselves as right in their beliefs, but since most religions have the same basic principles, there is no wrong one. Each person must just make that decision themselves as to what they want to believe, in a more powerful being, or not. As to the Heaven vs. Hell thing, it is considered to be the ultimate paradise to go to heaven, whereas Hell is the punishment. People just like to see other suffer while they triumph. We're a cruel species.

Is there any religion on earth which consider men and women to be equal?
Q. I was just wondering. Many religions claim men are superior to women. Is there any religion which states women are greater than men. At least that they are equal. Why do you think many religions consider men to be superior? Is it because all the founders of the religions happen to be men? If so its time we start our own religion. What do you think?

A. I think you are right when you say religions consider man to be superior because the founders are men themselves. But why care about what religions say. In other words what men say. We know the truth. Women gives birth to children, care for them, teach them what is right and what is wrong. Women do lots of sacrifices that men don't. Today we earn and support our families don't we. The women of the 21st century is way ahead than man. I mean how many men do we find helping women with house work where as we support the countries economy.

What are your best reasons to tax religion?
Q. Being tax exempt is essentially government (tax-payers) financing religion; these groups get the same quality of security and infrastructure as tax-payers. Sounds like support for religion to me. What about the abandoned churches that the government cannot confiscate, because no tax is overdue, that turn into havens for drugs? Ironic, but not if you truly understand the bloodsucking nature of religion on society. Super(duper)natural leaders should be a able contribute to the society they intend to control. Actually we (the government) are getting stuck twice. Until we add a sales tax on people buying their particular brand of religion, I won't be happy.

A. If they take tax-sponsored stuff (they do) without paying taxes, then they're forcing everyone to pay for it, which is a flagrant violation of freedom of religion. And freedom in general honestly. Now if they were consuming no tax-supported resources then we could talk, but since they use roads and all that other stuff they're freeloading. I HATE freeloaders.

What do you think the purpose of religion is? How and why did religion originate?
Q. From what I understand, superstition were made to fill the gaps. And superstition were turned into religion by men who wanted power. They use religion to control other people through fear. And religion works best against the weak-minded who don't have the guts to accept reality for what it is. Religious leaders all the way from the past took advantage of this and used religion to control them. That is why you see so many different religions all over the world. Each culture has its own made up religion. It's so obvious. It has continued until today and the weak-minded are still being exploited.

A. Religion came out of modern homo sapiens. As soon as our brain evolved to the point at which we were able to contemplate our own origins, we went passed a threshold of previous hominids. Religion accompanied civilizations and was built upon for thousands of years. People tend to forget that had it not been for evolution, there would not be the large amount of neural connections in our brains that would allow us to create something like christianity or islam.

Everything else he identified in that prophecy has been fulfilled in a massive way. But, most outstandingly, indeed miraculously, that work is being accomplished by a very unique group of people. How does religion affect your opinions of others?
Q. How does your religion (or atheism, or whatever system of belief you follow) affect your opinions your opinion of other people? Do you feel a different way towards those sharing your belief and those with different ones? Do you pre-judge by religion, and if you do, to what extent?

A. I don't judge anyone based only on their choice of religion. I do judge them for how they practice it in terms of interaction with others. The belief that everyone that doesn't follow your religion should convert or die, or that everyone should follow your particular beliefs whether they like it or not through the imposition of laws. If you want to sacrifice Hershey bars to the marshmallow god, I'm fine with that as long as you don't try to force me to eat smores every Friday.

A. Athens was part of the Roman Empire in the 5th century, and this was the century that Rome fell. Rome was Christian and had been since the time of the Emporer Constantine in the 4th century. When Rome fell, the eastern portion of the empire, which included Greece, became the Eastern Roman Empire, and its religion was Christianity. This empire eventually became known as the Byzantine empire. The type of Christianity that evolved there is known as Orthodox Christianity. this is essentiaslly the same religion practiced in Greece today. In the west, Catholicism developed, although it was a pretty weak institution until the 11th century. The 'Greek' church of the east and the 'Latin' church of the west hated each other. Hope that helps. [cont.]

A. Martin: These are not "just words" without a form of "absolute" ideology as you so eloquently put it, for a dog can show love, respect, loyalty and compassion, and i challenge you to find a Christian or Islamic dog... Respect, love, and compassion are NOT religion. If anything, the observance of NO religion is what is necessary to building and maintaining a nation. There will always be "evildoers" and "societal outcasts" regardless of your nation's religious affiliation. Religion causes tension and strife within a nation, between its citizens. Religion is very well the reason for various persecution, execution, and overall civil unrest within a nation.

How important is the religion of a political candidate?
Q. Would you ever vote 4 a president that was either of a different religion that yours or of no religion? If not, why?
Asked by Roxy - Sat May 2 21:19:32 2009 - - 24 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I would like to vote for an Atheist, agnostic or Secular Humanist, as those are my beliefs. However, either there are no politicians of those beliefs, (except Svend Robinson, NDP, Canada), or none are willing to admit Atheism. Then there are stories like the mayor of Saguenay, Quebec, who wants to promote Catholicism. If someone is going to run as president, mayor, member of Parliament or whatever, in a democratic society, that person must be willing to represent all constituents, whether the citizens are theist or atheist. So the religion or atheism of the candidate doesn't matter so much - what matters is the candidate's openness to various beliefs and life philosophies.

If the person who is running for that office posses integrity, honesty and diplomacy, I do not think that religion should be counted into. On the other hand, America was built on the faith of religion of our many ancestors. It's this very phatom that keeps America going on for generations to come. What is your opinion on this matter? Why must we bash the Mormon faith? As a Utahn and not a believer of the LDS church, so studied thourghly their believes, I come to the conclusion that we are really not aware that they are really true Christian folks. whether or not Mitt Romney has a… [cont.]

A. I do not think that religion should play a part in it. I know there are so many different religions in this world and one person may hold it against them. And some people are not religious at all and that may affect the way they vote even if the candidate is qualified to be president.

A. Hinduism is actually a very old religion, it's one of the oldest religions that a decent number of people still follow. I don't think it would have been made up a couple of hundred years ago, it's quite complex... although Scientology is pretty young :P No, seriously, although the British had India as a colony, Hinduism had already been there for a long time even though it didn't originate there.
