A. I'm not sure if you are asking us to give you the answers to a test, or asking us to do your homework for you. Either way it is cheating. If you want to ask a particular school related question, it would be best if you did this research on your own and if you can't find all the answers by all means ask again, but in the proper category ... Education & Reference > Homework Help . Just remember that the magic word is Homework HELP', not Homework Completion'. They won't do your homework for you, but they are quite willing to help. That way you are up front with your question and not cheating. Good luck!!

A. 1. Use the pythagorean theorem: |x2 - x1| = -4-2 = -6 = 6 |y2 - y1| = 3 - (-1) = 4 distance between points = diagonal or hypotenuse = sqrt(6^2 + 4^2) = sqrt(42) - i'll leave you to simplify 2. same method; |x2 - x1| = 5, |y2 - y1| = 5, Distance = sqrt(5^2 * 5^2) = sqrt(50) 3. Similar method, but you must use the pythagorean theorem for each side. You should be able to do this now. Just use the pythagorean theorem 3 times.

How do you solve this math problem?
Q. Find the sales necessary to break even (R = C) if the cost of C of producing x units is C = 5.5sqrt(x) +1000 and the revenue R from selling x units is R = 3.29x Im reviewing for back to school and i keep getting stuck because i can't seem to find a way around the sqrt(x)
Asked by Julius S - Wed Aug 5 19:31:19 2009 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Given: C = 5.5sqrt(x) +1000 R = 3.29x To find the "break even" point, determine where: R = C Substitute in the given expressions: 5.5sqrt(x) +1000 = 3.29x Put everything on 1 side of the equal sign: 0 = 3.29x - 5.5sqrt(x) - 1000 At this point, we actually have a quadratic equation, but it is in terms of "sqrt(x)", rather than "x". To see it differently, rewrite the equation as: 0 = 3.29(sqrt(x))^2 - 5.5sqrt(x) - 1000 Thus, we can use the quadratic equation to find the roots, but this answer will be "sqrt(x)": sqrt(x) = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a sqrt(x) = (-(-5.5) +/- sqrt((-5.5)^2 - 4*3.29*(-1000)) / (2*3.29) sqrt(x) = (5.5 +/- sqrt(30.25 + 131600.00)) / 6.58 sqrt(x) = (5.5 +/- 362.80883396080641740722) / 6.58 sqrt(x) = 5.5/6.58 [cont.]

Exam Review for Calculus?
Q. Okies, so I'm trying to bulldoze through some review and I'm stuck on a question. Here it is: Find the production level that minimizes the average cost per unit for the cost function C(x) = 0.004x^2 + 40x + 16000. Apparently, the answer is 2000, but I really don't know how to get there. Could ya'll show me the steps you took? I'd be thankful :D
Asked by YaY_fOR_PONIES! - Mon Jun 15 23:09:55 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Unit Cost = c(x) = C(x)/x c(x) = (0.004x + 40 x + 16000)/x = 40 + 16000/x + 0.004x Differentiate, set to zero and solve for x. c'(x) = 0.004 - 16000/x = 0 x = +/- 2000. Obviously, take positive solution.

A. a. Determine the company s breakeven volume for this book: i. In units Contribution Margin per book = Revenue per book - Variable Cost per book CM = $30 - $16 = $14 (CM Ratio is 14/30 or 46.667%) B/E in units = FC divided by CM per unit = $70,000/$14 = 5,000 books ii. In dollar sales B/E in sales = FC divided by CM Ratio = $70,000/46.667% = $150,000 b. Develop a breakeven chart for the textbook. I can't draw a chart here. c. Determine the number of copies. East must sell in order to earn an (operating) profit of $21,000 on this book You just add the desired profit to the FC and redo the calculation above.
