scars - Does anyone have a remedy for mixed race people who tend to scar easily and permanently?
Q. I am mixed race and scar very easily. I have recently fallen and have managed to gain another scar on my leg which is very prominent. I have been using boots scars reducing tissues which have kept this scar tissue area from being raised but I wondered if anyone had any remedies to lighten this area because its appearance is quite obvious and I am very self conscious about it. Can anyone help me please?

Q. I was bit by a dog and I was wondering if it is ever possible remove the scar above my eye completely. I know there are techniques like dermabrasion etc. but will they ever be removed completely? How can I get rid of scars without buying tubes and tubes of scar-fixing cream?
Q. I have a bunch of old scars from poison ivy, bug bites, knee scrapes, etc on my legs. I have bought scar removing or at least diminish creams in the past, but they haven't done much. A. It takes at least six months of using a scar minimizing cream four times per day in order to see serious results on old scars. Eight weeks for new scars, but even then I'd still use them. Still, they'd only be minimized, but if you looked closely they'd still be visible. I like Mederma. Arnica gel does amazing things rather quickly with bumps and bruises. Calendula helps with to smooth out scars. Either way you go, it's going to take dedication to consistently use the products you buy.

Is it possible to tattoo over scar tissue?
Q. I am planning on getting a tattoo, but the area of my body on which I plan to get it is heavily scarred in places due to a mis-spent youth. I was just wondering: a) is it possible to tattoo over scar tissue? & b) does the scarring adversely affect the look of the tattoo in any way?

A. it is possible to tattoo over scars but depending on how the scar is (raised, smooth, darkly colored, jagged etc) it may or may not come out looking like the rest of the skin. also i wouldn't just go to anybody to have it done. i would only trust a extremely talented artist to tatoo over a scar because as i understand it the texture of the skin is different and somewhat more difficult to tattoo over. the best thing you can do is to consult an artist. good luck!

What is an effective scar treatment for a minor burn?
Q. A couple of months ago I accidentally burned the tip of my nose on a 100w light bulb. It healed pretty quickly but there is an unsightly scar left over. I've tried Scar Zone cream and straight vitamin E to reduce its appearance, but neither seems to have worked very well. If anyone knows of a product or other treatment that might get rid of the scar, please let me know.

Scar removal treatment that gets rid of acne scars the best?
Q. I have a scar removal gel that works GREAT for my stretch marks and other scars, but I've yet to see this dramatic or any improvement in my acne scars. They're mostly on my forehead and some on my chin. They're raised, not indented, if that means anything. A. Steph ! # pply sandalwood paste with rosewater and leave it overnight over the scars. You can even apply a mixture of sandalwood paste and black gram paste. # For dark acne scars use lemon juice. Before applying, clean the scars with warm water and dab 1 tsp of lemon juice into a cotton ball and apply it on the scars and leave it for 10-15 minutes. A. Buy a boottle of Vitamin E Oil. It's cheap, so you can get the 56,000 units (the more units the better it is) and apply faithfully every day. Apply at least twice a day and 3 or 4 times if possible. It will take a while, but you've lived with it this long. Just try to get the pure kind that has no other oils combined with it. If it is not thick, it usually has safflower oil in it and that weakens it because it's just another softening additive. It's about $3 to $5 at Walmart or any drugstore.

A. I've been using Vitamin E oil and it really has faded any scars or spots I have had on my body. Try getting one with 12,000 iu (international units) or higher the higher the iu the faster it'll work but use a lower iu if your going to be putting on your face. Buy the capsules and open them yourself to retain the oil or buy vitamin e oil at walgreens,cvs,or target. I just got mine at target on sale for 5 bucks and it last a long time.

If I used regular scar removing cream on the acne scars on my face would it work to remove them?
Q. I've recently gotten my breakouts to stop, making my acne scars more visible. I can mostly cover them up with makeup but i'd rather just get rid of the scars. The faster the wound heals, the less the scarring will be. Keep the cut clean and regularly apply products like Neosporin.
