How are overachieving high school students able to fit so many things on their resume?
Q. I noticed someone posted their resume before on Y!A, plus I've seen ones before -- and these students had so many extracurriculars. I can't even imagine how it would be possible to be the leader of 5 clubs, play 3 varsity sports (there are only 5 school days!), win a handful of awards, and still have a brilliant GPA/SAT score. What's the secret to their kind of success?

A. Let's start with the easy ones first. High GPA. Started with honors courses, summer programs and challenging courses starting in middle school like my son. He took SAT when he was 15 years old and scored very well and a perfect 800 in math. His GPA is 100+ because of bonuses of Honors and AP classes. So this part is easy. You can play sports like once every season. Takes a lot of time but still not difficult. So football in fall, baseball in spring, etc. My son, who is going to 11th grade, did not play sports but was co-captain of the robot team that went to nationals and Vice President of the Technology Student's association and has made it to national competition two years in a row. Since he is ahead in his course work he will… [cont.]
