A. Much like many parts of the world, school in Nicaragua starts promptly at 8:15am. In Barrio Riguero, a Managua neighborhood, students are counted tardy if they show up one minute late at the local school, and the Director has a strict policy prohibiting tardiness. Hope this helps.

How hard is it to go to medical school if I decide to have a baby at the same time?
Q. Just want to know if anyone has gone through medical school and had a baby. My husband wants to have a child, but I've not been happy with the idea since I am planning to go to medical school next year. I love children, but I don't want to be neglectful towards my own child and want to focus on school. How difficult will it be to attend med school and take care of a kid at the same time? Well, if there is a medical school that offers courses online, make sure that you do not go see the doctor who graduated from that university. LOL!!!

A. Hi there, Having a baby is never an easy decision. Unfortunately, medical school presents one of the most rigorous educational experiences around. Most med students can attest they have little time for Anything (eating, sleeping, relationships, fun). My cousin would think this question was some kind of joke, given his experience in med school. However, if you want to have a baby, you need be acquainted with the realities of combining child rearing with medical school. Here are a few: - Babies are expensive. Since medical school is already ridiculously expensive (many students leave school with over 200,000 dollar in loans). - Since, it's impossible to work, have a child, and attend medical school, so you're faced with a question:… [cont.]

What time do your grade school children go to bed on school nights?
Q. My daughters are in grade school and they go to bed at 8:00 on school nights. They sometimes fall asleep on their own before this time. My sisters both have 2 children each around the same ages and their kids go to bed around 10-10:30 on school nights. I was just curious to see what time other children go to bed and am wondering the reason behind the bedtime.

A. I try to make sure my kids are in bed eary enough to get a good ten hours sleep each night. --- I am a teacher and I see the correlation between a good rest and good grades/attitude in my students all the time.

Is Bartending school a waste of time and money?
Q. I am thinking about going to bartending school, I am married and have a 11 year old son. My husband does not think it is a good idea to go to bartending school, He thinks it is a waste of money and basically probably a scam. He does not like the idea of the hours of working in a bar, and the fact that I may be hit on, just a lot of factors including the time. Ect.
Asked by Kathy A - Fri Nov 16 08:05:41 2007 - - 11 Answers - 1 Comments

A. yes, bartending schools are a colossal waste of both. in my 25 years in the business i've never once seen a "graduate" get the job, because it takes too long to "de-program" them, most places prefer to train a novice over hiring a graduate. check out www.totallyfreebartending .com for starters. if you've never worked in the restaurant/bar industry, starting as a bartender without restaurant experience is a very bad idea. it is by far the hardest job, with the longest hours, and most physical work involved. hire on as a server, or cocktail server at a smaller place, to see, if this business is for you. if you are just looking for a part time job, you'll make more money that way, and is much easier work. as a bartender you are expected to… [cont.]

I want to start a home-school program from my Home for children having a hard time emotionally in PublicSchool?
Q. However, my current home is a mobile home and it is not big enough for a classroom. There are several grants available for non-profit Christian organizations, which I hope to create, BUT would I be able to use the grant money to buy a bigger modular home to put on my property in order to give kids who are depressed, emotionally unstable, or have a hard time in public school a safe environment to come and learn with out charging them anything.

What is Graduate School like and how time-consuming is it?
Q. I'm thinking of going to graduate school to become a therapist after I finish my first 4 years of college. I would go for two years to get my Master's Degree. About how long a day or how many days a week would it take? Would I have a lot more free time than college or not? I'm probably going to minor in acting or theater in college, too, and if I go to graduate school would it be possible to at the same time to have acting jobs? Thanks.
Asked by Angel - Wed Jul 16 19:13:40 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. What is your first 4 years of college? Is it basics, or is it psychology? That's the difference. However, any Masters is harder than undergrad because it is so concentrated. However, a Masters will ensure that your pay is very high eventually. An undergrad ensures you will just stay employed in a reasonable salary.

Can you switch to homeschooling at any time during the school year?
Q. I really don't like my new school, so i was wondering if you could switch to homeschooling any time during the year, or if you had to wait till the end of the school year. Also, how long does the process of signing up take? Any information is accepted, and thank you for all of the help!

A. I know where I live I switched a week before semester testing. I was having serious medical problems though that caused me to miss too many days of school. So I would of failed semester tests and had to redo that whole semester. I wasn't guaranteed to make it through high school with the problems I was having. It turns out my next door neighbor was home schooled. My mom went up to the school got some paper work and filled it out. I turned in all my books and on the paper work my mother wrote the subjects I will be studding and for how long and what times. We had it all done within two days. I think you should ask your school councilor they will give you more information. Make sure you do not lose the paper work and you get your grades up… [cont.]

A. You will get a 1098T from any school where you paid tuition. It doesn't matter if you were a part time or full time student. You use that form to determine if you qualify for a tuition deduction or one of the education credits.

Can School stop me from taking my child out during term time?
Q. We rarely if ever take our children out at term time. We asked our sons(13) school via a polite letter for two days. The teacher said my son had to talk to the head and when he did the head said 'We'll see'... We are not stupid to take our children out at exam time so can they be awkward.. No wonder kids go off sick just before a holiday !

A. at my son's school if the attendance of the child is at or above a certain percentage (90 something?) then they are allowed up to 2 weeks i think, But it has to be authorised. Parents can be fined if they didn't have permission for time off - I think it is 50 at my son's school.

A. Make it a goal to finish homework before the school day ends. Some teachers drone on and on. Ask them if they could have more class participation during the discussions. Take notes and doodle pictures that relate to the class. It will help you remember what is said.

How do you save time on school mornings?
Q. To save time in the morning on those hectic school days, I typically take my showers at night, and lay out the clothes and shoes that I'm going to wear the next day the night before. Sometimes I have to skip breakfast, unfortunately, so I make sure I have a granola bar or something quick on the counter for me to grab on my way to school.

A. Well...once in a while being late is okay...but everyday its not so okay. First thing I would ask you to think to yourself is...are wasting time at any point...like getting glued in front of the tv or fixing that one strand of hair? If not...and you are free of distractions...then I would say- if you have issues that your hair needs to be perfect, do some stuff before sleeping (like blow drying for instance or straightening). Next...if you are just short on time, then wake up earlier by 5-10 minutes and see how that works (unless u keep hitting the snooze button often). I had the same issue as you...so I just wake up earlier. I do shower at night and lay out my clothes...definately makes things easier. Hope you get better...good luck.

What sacrifice is required to become a lawyer by part time school?
Q. I am considering trying to become a lawyer. I have a full time job that due to economic conditions I obviously dont want to lose. I am looking at possibly going to law school on a part time basis during the evenings. Am I barking up the wrong tree? Just from a work hours on top of study hours perspective, is this a crazy under taking? Any advice is appreciated.

Is it possible to attend law and grad school at the same time?
Q. Next year I am going to attend law school and I would like to get a degree in psychology also; however there are only a few schools that offer a joint degree. Is it possible to get a degree in law and psychology at the same time? What should I do?
Asked by beautifulstl86 - Mon Aug 20 16:47:26 2007 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Some schools do offer dual degrees, although I think that for psychology the only possibility there would be a J.D./Ph.D. program. Working toward a law degree and another degree at the same time without following a structured degree program and class schedule designed by the university would probably be next to impossible due to workload and course time conflicts.
