How do you seperate your clothes when doing laundry?
Q. I know the classic way, where you seperate lights, darks, and whites. I also know that you shouldnt wash towels with your clothes. My question is what do you consider light? what if you have a light pale yellow and a bright orange shirt is it ok to wash them together. do seperate from brightness as well? is it ok to wash heavier materials such as jeans with a thin cotton shirt? Any help would be great because i have always wondered what would be the best way to wash these items. Thanks for your answers!

How to Seperate Magnesium Hydroxide from a Solution of Water and Na2SO4?
Q. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding how to seperate magnesium hydroxide from a solution of water and sodium sulfate? The magnesium hydroxide is supended in the solution, and is often called Milk of Magnesium in this form. It was formed by mixing a solution of sodium hydroxide with a solution of magnesium sulfate. Thanks.
Asked by Nick P - Fri Nov 30 04:03:30 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. As you have said, magnesium hydroxide is suspended in the solution. This means that magnesium hydroxide is insoluble in water. ALL Group 1 and ammonium salts are soluble in water. So, Na2SO4 will dissolve in water. Hence to separate magnesium hydroxide, you stir the solution first to ensure that all Na2SO4 have dissolved in water. Now, you're left with a solution of Na2SO4 with Mg(OH)2 settled at the bottom. Filter the solution. Mg(OH)2 will be obtained as residue and Na2SO4 will be obtained as filtrate. There you go.

How do you seperate sand and salt when both in water?
Q. We are doing a science expieriment, and it involves mixing sand and salt together, and then we have to seperate them without useing our hands directly. Our teacher gave a "hint" about nothing can be wet by the time the expeiriment is over. Help me!
Asked by Lovely - Thu Mar 13 20:47:49 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. ok...first you need to let the salt dissolve into the water, then you need to pour the entire mixture through a coffee filter (or somthing that doesent let the sand through). Now the sand is seperated. Now you need to boil the water with the salt in it until all the water evaporates, leaving salt in the bottom. Hope this works!!

How do I seperate my fish in a 29 gallon tank?
Q. I have 2 Jack Dempsey and a Flower Horn. The Flower Horn is new to the tank (about 3 weeks) and he is taking over. He doesnt let the other fish eat. Keeps them hiding all the time which is odd because one of my Dempseys was very mean before getting the Flower Horn. I am planning on taking the Flower Horn back to the pet store but until I do I need to seperate him from the others before my Dempsey dies. Anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?
Asked by PM - Wed Feb 20 12:12:38 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can go to a pet store or even a Walmart and purchase a tank divider pretty cheap. It's just a piece of plastic or frame with netting that will separate what ever part of the tank you wish to close off, but water still circulates through.

How do i seperate brine shrimp from salt so that i can feed them?
Q. Brine shrimp live in saltwater and i don't wanna get the salt into my fish tank... so how do i make sure that salt won't get into the tank. Also i need to know how to seperate eggshell from the brine because the egg shells aren't good for the fish either. Thanks in advance will the brine shrimp die from no water when i strain them and rinse them?
Asked by Sean D - Thu Apr 3 19:46:53 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. First of all, the shells will not harm your fish, they are just messy to clean out of the tank. Remove the air source from your hatchery, and shine a bright light at the bottom. Bbs are attracted to light, wait about 5 minutes and remove the bbs with a turkey baster. To rinse I rubber band a paper coffee filter to the top of an old plastic cup. Squirt the bbs into the filter to drain, and then rinse with water.

What is the best way to seperate gold dust from sand/dirt?
Q. I have found what looks like an abundance of gold dust. I need to seperate it from the sand/dirt so I can further test it for quality and authenticity. I have been trying the use of water without much success. I will accept any suggestions of a better method.

A. Test for gold with gold panning. See the link for instructions. If it turns out you found gold, most prospectors use sluices to remove gold in volume. You do not need a bona-fide gold pan for the test. You should be able to fake it fairly well with a pie tin. You MUST have an oil free tin though. Don't assume a new one doesn't have oil on it. Wash it aggressively. Add a tiny amount of dish soap to the tin while you pan. If you still have problems separating the gold with panning, it probably isn't gold. Test your panning skill using small lead split-shot, flattened out. If you can separate the lead from sand but not the yellow stuff, it's not gold :)

How do you crack locks that use seperate dials for each number?
Q. I have a Brinks lock that someone else changed the combination on then forgot it, it's one of the ones that have a seperate dial for each number in the combination (IE if the combination was 1-2-3-4 you would set the first dial to 1, the second to 2, and so on). How can you find the combination to these? Or does anyone know of any demonstration videos? The lock isn't on anything, so I don't want to cut it. I want to be able to open it so I can use it.

What is an inexpensive and stylish way to seperate one large room into a bedroom and a living room?
Q. I have a one bedroom apartment and would like to make the actual bedroom my son's nursery. How could I seperate a bedroom type area from the living area. I want to create two unique and private living spaces. Any ideas?
Asked by rafiki - Thu Jan 26 16:02:14 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You could divide the space with either an open bookshelf or using a 2 closed bookshelves back to back. It would not only divide the room, but give you some storage. Another solution would be to hang curtains between the areas. You could run a wire from one wall to the other, and use sheets to make curtains big enough to reach from floor to ceiling.

How do I seperate my Jade plants?
Q. I have several jade plants growing in one pot. I got this at IKEA a while ago. the plants have been growing well, I would like to seperate them so that they can continue to grow and do well. In the past I have had bad luck with Jade, any advice would be beneficial. Thank you
Asked by samanny - Sat Mar 22 23:25:55 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If I am thinking of the same plant, I could actually get one of the leaves to root - so they are pretty hardy. I suggest just digging down to the root. If they are all connected under the soil, just break the root and pot the suckers in other pots. I do remember having to make sure that the soil was well fertilized (using your standard miracle grow solution in water) when I would re-pot them. I would fertilize once a month after that, during the spring and summer months only. Also, jade plants are succulents so they can store water well - which I think also relates to then not loving super wet soil. Make sure that the new pots for the suckers have rocks at the bottom so the soil can drain well and in between watering make sure that… [cont.]

How do I seperate a dvd into 2 different parts?
Q. I have a dvd movie that is 5 GB and my dvd-r has a capacity of 4.7 gb so how do I divide the movie into 2 parts so it would be 2.5gb per part so I could put it on 2 dvd-r's. So my question is that how do I divide my dvd into 2 seperate parts?
Asked by shafiqdms1 - Sat Nov 17 19:25:22 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Do you want to get out of your chair to switch disks? Instead of breaking the movie into two parts I suggest compressing it slightly so that it will fit on a single disk. A great utility for compressing the movie down to fit on a single 4.7G disk is DVD Shrink: About: Download: I've used it for many years and have to say it does a great job.

Why do people fall for the illusion that we are all seperate, fragmented beings?
Q. The ego controlled illusion of seperatedness is the cause of all conflict, of all wars, of violence in unimaginable proportions, of lovers squabbles and of the two world wars we have witnessed. Being seperate is an illusion. We are all just consciousness brought temporarily into many different types of forms but ultimately there is only one being and that is consciousness. We all come from the same source. Why do people not see this and believe that we are all fragmented, divided beings, totally alone in the universe when this is clearly not true? Is it the ego that causes this illusion of seperatedness? Ronin - Yes all humans will die but collective consciousness will live and take other forms. The ego is an essential "tool" as I like… [cont.]

Will I get a rebate check if I file married filing seperate?
Q. My husband and I filed seperate, he is getting a refund and I owe 327.00 will we get any rebate checks?
Asked by babydoll - Thu Feb 28 19:55:06 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. For the purposes of the rebate, married filing seperate is treated as single. You must each qualify for the rebate based on your own 2007 earnings and Federal Income Tax liability. You would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $600 if you paid that much in Federal Income Tax. If you only paid $350 in taxes (less than the $600 rebate limit), you only get back $350. If you had earned income of at least $3000, you would get at least the minimum rebate of $300. Use the Kiplinger rebate tax calculator (link below) to compute your rebate.

A. It's really hard to say, but a good rule of thumb is if they can mate and produce viable offspring (ie: not sterile), they they are just different sub-populations. If they can't mate, then they are two seperate species. This gets really iffy when you talk about something like dogs, but in nature, it proves to typically be true. For instance, a lion and a tiger are consider seperate species because, even though they can mate, the offspring cannot, and the new species dies. The same applies with horses and mules. This actually describes the situation quite nicely. It's definitely worth your while to read: Also helpful:
