Does France have signboard in English on their buildings, train, roads, restaurants?
Q. Is it safe to travel by ourselves if we know only a little French ?
Asked by Elysee - Thu Mar 16 22:47:17 2006 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It's definately safe but you should familiarize yourself with words and signs you consider important before you go. Just look at other peoples photos (you can do a web search or browse flickr) for things like the trainstation, etc. Most signs are easy to figure out by shape, color, etc. Also to add on the previous post, always start with a "Bonjour" or "Bonsoir" and end with a "Merci" just starting with "Parlez-vous anglais?" and a french hello will show the locals that you're admitting that you don't know their language and that you're making an effort. They will like get annoyed if the first thing you say to them is in English - since that means that you're assuming they will understand you.

What is that large ancient castle looking thing nearby singapore chinese garden?
Q. Whenever I and my friends go cycling around Chinese Garden, we would cycle pass this very large castle then turn around to cycle back. Of all the times we cycled, we thought about what was it. There are two chinese characters on the signboard of that "castle" which writes marketplace or something like that in chinese. Still not knowing what is it. I did not even know it existed in the first place in Singapore. Please can you tell me what it is? The best is you can provide me a website and more details about it! My friends are eager to know why.

A. Your "someone" has already answered your Q. Add'l info: If you're from Makati, at the corner of Ayala and EDSA, there are many buses going to Alabang. You don't have to take the MRT. From Manila, at Taft Ave., there are also many buses there going to Alabang. If you're good in walking, at Alabang, you don't have to ride a jeep. From the bus stop, Festival Mall is just a stone's throw.

What's the software people use to edit their photos as if they are on billboards etc?
Q. I have been seeing lately some ppl are editing their photos and making it look like as if they are featured on billboards, signboards, books/magazines etc..everywhere...can anyone pls let me know.. Many thanks!
Asked by nia - Thu Oct 9 23:09:03 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. A very good Photo-Editing software available is Adobe PhotoShop CS3, but only a 30-day trial for PhotoShop is available for free. To try it out go to A free alternative to PhotoShop is GIMP. While it is as powerful as PhotoShop, it's a bit harder to use. If you can't get your head around it, check some tutorials on YouTube: Hope that helps.

What does is meant by standing on God's word?
Q. "Stand on the word of God and you will not fall into error" is what I read on the signboard outside a church. How can I accomplish this so this applies to my life? How do I stand on the word? Live by faith...is that what it means?
Asked by Dynasty - Thu Mar 5 04:36:35 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Someone once told me to do this. To me, it means reading God's word and really knowing what you believe in, so that you can "stand firm on his word" if something is going wrong, or your being questioned as to why you believe in Christianity. I guess it just means, if you know what the bible teaches as right and wrong, you will not be led astray and you "will not fall into error". To accomplish this, I guess you could regularly read the bible and know what it teaches, and apply this to your life. I hope this helps.

what is different between wine, whisky, brandy and rum.how much old should be consumed?
Q. generally all we can see signboard as wine shops but we will not get wine there why?
Asked by Jakkinaboina M - Wed Jan 7 11:31:51 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The difference is just what they are made from and how they are made. Wine is made from grapes. Brandy is wine that has had the water removed (distilled) so that the alcohol content is at least 80 proof. I think whiskey is made from wheat and barley. I forget what rum is made from. I think it is sugar cane. But like brandy, both rum and whiskey is at least 80 proof. Generally, those tiny wine and liquor shops do carry a little bit of wine, but don't sell a lot of it because for the most part, they cater to a customer base that doesn't consume a lot of wine. A lot of those corner liquor stores are in poorer neighborhoods, and wine tends to be a hobby for those with some money. This is the best strategy for those liquor stores… [cont.]

Why are Saints fans asking "Who is that?"?
Q. I have seen a few individuals on the television who had this phrase composed on a signboard during the 2010 Super Bowl event. And Jim Berkel from the associated press also made an "who is that?" remark as he predicted his winner for the event. I'm simply curious as I am not aware of the historical and/or cultural significance this diction holds to the New Orleans Saints fans if not the entire New Orleans residents. Please advise, and thanks in advance. Any input would be much appreciated.
Asked by rskha - Tue Feb 9 11:17:07 2010 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The phrase "Who Dat" has its roots in vernacular poetry of the 19th century and was popularized by black entertainers. The documented history of the phrase begins with the African-American poet Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906), The Saints fans have borrowed the colloquialism and modified its ending to show that they are common folk of the land not intellectual elitists.
