Can you help me find the slope and y-intercepts of 10 -1/3y = 4x?
Q. Thanks TONS!!! You just made a single mom's life a little bit easier! =)

A. 10 - (1/3)y = 4x rearrange into y = mx + b (solve for y) 10 = (1/3)y + 4x (add (1/3)y to both sides) -4x + 10 = (1/3) y) (subtract 4x from both sides) -12x + 30 = y (multiply both sides by 3) so y = -12x + 30 m = -12 = slope b = 30 = y-intercept

Find the slope and y-intercept of the line.Write fractional answers in lowest terms 3y+4x+7=14+4x?
Q. The slope is? The y-intercept is (0,?) Also: Find the slope of the line containing the pair of points: (9,2) and (10,-1) The slope m=?
Asked by *Just Bliss* - Sun Jul 27 15:48:13 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Slope intercept form is y=mx+b so start by solving the equation for y. 3y+4x+7=14+4x 3y+4x+7-7=14+4x-7 3y+4x=7+4x 3y+4x-4x=7+4x-4x 3y=7 y=7/3 The y-intercept is (0,7/3). Since there is no x in this equation the line is horizontal, which means it has a slope of 0. Remember that slope is rise over run. So if you have a pair of points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) then the slope is m = (y2 - y1)/(x2-x1) In your case you have the points (9,2) and (10,-1). So the slope is m = (-1 - 2)/(10-9) = -3/1 = -3 Hope this helps you!

A. They are all equations of lines. y = -2/3x + 4. I choose x=0, x=3. x=6 x=0: y = (-2/3)*0 + 4 = 4 so point is (0,4) x=3: y = (-2/3)*3 + 4 = 2 so point is (3,2) x=6: y = (-2/3)*6 + 4 = 0 so point is (6,0) Plot these three points and draw the line through them (actually, two points are sufficient, but a third point will confirm.) The next one is very similar. It's yours. 3x - 2y = 6 using x and y intercepts The x intercept (where the line intersects the x axis) is found by setting y=0: 3x - 2*0 = 6 3x=6 x=2 The x intercept is (2,0) The y intercept (where the line intersects the y axis) is found by setting x=0: 3*0 - 2y = 6 -2y = 6 y= - 3. A. Since we really can't have someone else do you homework for you ... I'll just do half of them. That should give you an idea how to do the others: y= x - 3 by graphing 3 points. x = -1 ... y = -4 x = 0 ... y = -3 x = 3 ...y = 0 3x - 2y = 6 by graphing the x and y intercepts. x = 0 ... y = -3 y = 0 ... x = 2 3x + 5y = 12 by the slope intercept method. 5y = 12 - 3x y = -3/5 x + 12/5 Intercept = 12/5, slope = -3/5

A. Nice Try point slope form of an equation in general is given by: y - y1= m (x - x1) where (x1, y1) is a point through which the line passes The standard form of an equation of a line is given by: y=mx + c where m is the slope and c is the y intercept To determine the y intercept you basically look for the point where the line intersects with the y-axis and then you find what the value of y is at this point. I posted some examples... Did not do your work, but maybe some examples will help.
