A. I don't get how you can't access your hard drive but able to copy its content but anyway you can try a disk imaging software. A good free one is DriveImage xml basically you back up the whole hard drive then restore it on a different hard drive OR you can just hook up a second hard drive and it can copy drive-to-drive directly. If you do decide to use it & you get caught (a very easy task, much easier than hacking) believe me, the penalties are very severe. Hacking (which is what you'll be doing) is considered a very serious crime. Depending on what the network has on it or what you say or do, it could be considered a terroristic threat. Don't go there. What are the benefits of open source software model to original software writers?
Q. I am interested in what the benefits of open software model are to original software writers (not users). I more or less understand the concept from users standpoint (they can modify it, just like Linux, etc.) What I would like to know is what would a developer gain by releasing his software into community. He cannot charge for it anymore, even if he still holds IP rights like patents. Charging for support, not licenses? Quick market penetration? What else? Thanks.

Miguel de Icaza was actually hired by Microsoft, but US Immigration said "You can't have him because he never went to college" so he co-wrote the GNOME desktop and now he works for Novell. Open Source Software is a calling card. Red Hat is doing very well as an Open Source company so don't knock it.

What is the best free videoconferencing software?
Q. I have to come up with a cheap video conferencing solution for my work. We already have cameras and mics. I just need to find some software that allows more than 2 users to be talking to each other at the same time. I have found alot of good software out there but it is a paid service. Also applications such as skype would be ideal but they only allow 2 people to talk to each other. Q. I have to come up with a cheap video conferencing solution for my work. We already have cameras and mics. I just need to find some software that allows more than 2 users to be talking to each other at the same time. I have found alot of good software out there but it is a paid service. Also applications such as skype would be ideal but they only allow 2 people to talk to each other. So if anyone knows of any software that's similar to skype or windows messenger, that allows 3 or more people to talk, it would be a great help!
