Q. If aqueous solutions of potassium chromate and barium chloride are mixed, a bright yellow solid (barium chromate) forms and settles out of the mixture, leaving potassium chloride in solution. Write a balanced chemical equation for this process. (Type your answer using the format CO2 for CO2. Use the lowest possible coefficients.) K2CrO4(aq) + (aq) (s) + (aq)

Q. 5 x 10^ -4 mol/L and a Ksp of 5 x 10^-23. Calculate the concentration of phosphate ion. somehow i couldnt get this answer 6.32 x 10^-7 mol/L
Asked by ruby - Wed Jul 30 14:33:39 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Ba3(PO4)2 --- 3 Ba+2 + 2 PO4^-3 since a Ksp is equal to the concentrations of the products raised to the power of their coefficients then Ksp = [Ba+2]^3 [PO4]^2 so (5 X 10^-4 )^3( PO4)^2 = 5 X 10^-23 (PO4)^2 = 5 X 10^-23 / 125 X 10 ^-12 PO4 ^-3 = 6.32 X 10^-7 M

A. (NH4)2CO3(s) + Ba(OH)2(aq) = 2NH4OH(aq) + BaCO3(s) This is a double displacement reaction producing aqueous Ammonium Hydroxide and a Barium Carbonate solid.

A balanced equation for solid barium hydrixide dissolving in water?
Q. for this have to write a balanced equation and want to know if what i've done is correct. Ba (s) + H2O > Ba(OH)2 what i've put is Ba (s) + H2O2 > Ba(OH)2 since if i'm i'm thinking right the (OH)2 is showing that there is two of each in the hydroxide and the other side of the equation has to show the same so that means i need to have a second O (Oxygen) so as to have the same amount on either side

A. If barium hydroxide is dissolved in water, then all that happens is the ions break up and are surrounded by water molecules. This is known as dissociation. Ba(OH)2(s) ==> Ba+2(aq) + 2 OH-(aq)

Q. How would you make 100.0 mL of 0.750 M barium chloride from solid BaCl2*2H20 and water?
Asked by shane - Thu Feb 5 03:18:10 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. well 0.75 M means in 1000mL there is 0.75 moles of BaCl2 simple proportion!! in 100mL, there should be 0.075 moles of BaCl2, agree with that? well 0.075 moles refer to [0.075x208]=15.6 g of BaCl2 so you just weigh 15.6 g of BaCl2 and add small amount of water to dissolve the solid...then pour in a 100mL volumetric flask and add water upto the 100mL mark hope this helps=)

A. Barium carbonate precipitates, and you have potassium chloride dissolved in water. This is the equation BaCl2(aq) + K2CO3(aq) ---> BaCO3(s) + 2KCl (aq) It's basicly a precipitation reaction, if u need extra info mail me back... hope it works

A. Chemical: CH3COOH (aq) + NaOH (aq) ---> NaCH3COO (aq) + H2O (l) so you can do the same for Ba(OH)2, but balance out the equation when you write it. both sides have to have the same number of H's and O's

How will Barium Hydxorxide and Ammonium Nitrate react when dissolved in water?
Q. I am looking to react a solution of Barium Hydroxide with Ammonium Nitrate. I am concerned that becasue the reaction is endothermic the reactants might freeze or react differently than they do as solids. If you Have any insight into this it would be greatly apperciated.

A. it may be endothermic, but water has about the second greatest Joule requirement in the world of chemicals to alter its temperature, (specific heat). second only ,to my poor recollection, to your product NH3... i would not be to concerned about the possibility of it freezing , unless it does

Asked by sammy - Sun Jan 17 20:43:48 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'd use vacuum filtration. You put a fine filter in a funnel to keep solid matter from passing through and then hook it up to a vacuum line to suck out the liquid. Just pour your solution into that and it'll dry out the precipitate nicely.
