What is the difference between Lewis Structure and dot diagram?
Q. I was just wondering if there was a difference between Lewis Structures and dot structures (sometimes also called Lewis dot structures). The only thing I know is that the dot structure has dots around elements to represent the # of electrons in the atom, but not quite sure what the Lewis structure is? Any help guys?

A. lewis structure draws out the molecule. You use lines to represent bonds (electrons). Using lewis structures is much more common, quicker, and easier to do. Dot structures show the individual electrons. Kind of tedious but good to get going I guess. You'll have one test on them and never do them again.

A. Where do the line breaks come? Are the lines end stopped? What stanza is used? Do thoughts run over between stanzas? Is there a turn? Does the poem itself have a unique form (i've seen poems written in spirals, etc.)? Does it follow a regular meter? You should be able to talk in some detail about how, for example, Chidiock Tichbourne's "On the Eve of his Execution": My prime of youth is but a frost of cares, My feast of joy is but a dish of pain, My crop of corn is but a field of tares, And all my good is but vain hope of gain; The day is past, and yet I saw no sun, And now I live, and now my life is done. What corporate structure is best for being an at home options trader to take advantage of benefits and taxes?
Q. I have heard that a corporation managing an LLC is best and provides the most protection. I don't know which corporate structure as I need insurance and want to fund retirement programs for myself and my wife as well. I will be trading my own account with my own money and do have someone that can be an officer in the organization with me. No shares are needed unless they benefit me in some way. Thank you for your wisdom in advance.
Asked by New Trader Dusty - Tue May 16 23:54:51 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Unless you will be trading on behalf of others you do not require the double protection of two entities. An S-Corporation to pass the gains and losses directly to yourself would be fine and you would be shielded from liability. If you want a separate tax vehicle, a standard C-Corporation or LLC will suffice.

How does the structure of a cell enable it to carry out a particular function?
Q. If anyone could possibly help me with this it would be much appreciated. How does the structure of a : 1] nerve cell, 2] palisade cell, 3] xylem 4] and ciliated cell enable it to carry out a particular function? Please help, am in desperate need of knowledge.
Asked by BabieeHayley - Sun Apr 12 09:47:39 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. palisade cells are elongated cells in the palisade layer of a leaf. Their shape prevents them from fitting tightly together and leave holes between the cells to allow air from the outside travel through the leaf which then helps with photosynthesis. xylem cells are tubular, elongated cells that are dead at maturity. They are comprised of tracheids (long tapered water conducting cells) that disintegrates, leaving the cells thickened walls behind to form a nonliving conduit through which water can flow freely. Cilitated cells are cells with hair-like structures on them that usually occur in large numbers on a cell surface. Together, their numerous hairs wave back and forth to promote movement. Their thin shape allows it to be easily flexed… [cont.]

Asked by S-squared - Fri Dec 14 02:29:54 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well, if you think about photosynthesis, it's the combination of water and CO2 in the presence of sunlight to produce oxygen and glucose (food). Xylem transports water through plants, and phloem carries the nutrients. So the "structure" is how the compounds get to where they're needed.

Asked by lisajeannegirl - Fri Nov 14 07:40:09 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. vapor pressure goes down with increased mol weight; these items have a fairly high mol weight; The napthalene has high mol weight due to its fused ring structure; the fused rings also have a mutual attraction of Van der Waals forces for other napthalene molecules which tends to retard vaporization. The dichlorobenzene has high mol weight due to the chlorine content; these also have mutual attraction like napthalene

A. A compound is a combination of two or more elements. NaCl is a compound, not a molecule, because it dissociates into Na+ ion and Cl- ion. A molecule involves covalent bonds. Glucose is a molecule. To describe water as a compound, I would say it is H2O, or hydrogen oxide. To describe water as a molecule, I would say it is H-O-H.

How do you tell is a Lewis structure represents a dipole?
Q. So, let's say that you have a non-polar thing... I don't know, pick one. You draw the Lewis structure. Ok, good. I don't understand HOW you determine if the Lewis structure represents a dipole. Don't you have to label which ends are positive, and which ends are negative..? I don't get it. Can someone help make it clearer?
Asked by doubled254 - Mon Jun 19 19:42:32 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. ok here is a really easy way to tell...lets take water and carbon dioxide...water is polar...carbon dioxide is nonpolar now to tell if it is a dipole or not just check to see if it is symetrical (both ways top to bottom and side to side) imagine u draw out carbon dioxide now fold it top to bottom and side to side, if it matches on all sides then it is not a dipole and it is nonpolar but with water which is bent if your fold it both it is not symetrical which means its polar and its a dipole hope that helps if you need more help just add details ill check back later.

A. User can remain logged in to your site with session, so each time user logs in the system will create a login session for the user. You can create some area of the website that is available to logged in users only by passing if condition that requires that only logged in users can get access. Alternatively, non-member users will be redirected to login page. User login details are varified against the user data in MySQL database.

What are the benefits of routine and structure for children with Autism?
Q. What would it be like without structure and routine? How does it help and how can the child continue with this sense of routine and structure as they become adults?
Asked by mousey - Sat Sep 26 16:45:09 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Children and adults with autism enjoy routines, as they can not cope well with change or surprises. While at school or college they will work to a timetable with their lessons, breaks, lunches, but when they leave that environment they can sometimes get very confused and frustrated due to the lack of structure around them. The anxiety that this can cause can lead to isolation, and some challenging behavior in a person with autism. If the person manages to get a job (in this economic climate..) then that again provides a form of structure for their day, and can ease the anxiety they suffer.

Q. Compare the political structure of the United States to that of Switzerland.
Asked by Tyler - Mon Aug 3 18:02:32 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Both countries are federal republics. Most other countries are just republics. The difference is that in a federal republic, smallest contingencies, states in the US and Cantons in Switzerland, have a large degree of autonomy and can pass laws that do not apply to other states or cantons. One of the major differences is that Switzerland does not have a strong single head of state like the President of the United States. Their executive department is a committee.
