What are the best terminal colors to reduce eye strain?
Q. This question has been asked here before but dint get a good answer so I am asking again: When configuring a terminal screen on a computer, what are the optimal colors to use for background and text colors to reduce eye strain? White on black? Black on White? Green on black? I know everyone has their "preference" but surely there has to be some scientific data on this?
Asked by rb - Tue Aug 19 14:33:02 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It is always better to have darker background with a just enough contrasting font colour. The aim is to reduce the amount of too bright light (glare) from entering the eye. This will reduce the strain on eyes

Q. I have a 1995 mercury tracer 1.9L I4 car with a battery that has the sufficient CCA for the cold here in Ohio. The positive terminal of the battery "blackens" for some strange reason. How to invoke the Linux Terminal in LINUX when a process becomes unresponsive?
Q. If a process becomes unresponsive in WINDOWS then we press "alt+ctrl+del" to invoke the task manager & then terminate the process. Is there any similar way to invoke the Linux Terminal so that we can end a process by the 'kill' command when it becomes unresponsive?Any help would be gladly accepted.

A. Whether you are in an x-windows session or working at the console command line, an equivalent in Linux would be to select a new virtual terminal using the key sequence CTRL-ALT-F-Key. For example, from the console, CRTL-ALT-F1 will open virtual tty1, if it has not been disabled by configuration. Once in the screen for the virtual terminal is displayed you can log in with appropriate permissions to use 'ps' to determine the process that you need to kill as you would normally do as indicated in your question. To return to the console use CTRL-ALT-F7. For completeness, if you are at the command line you could begin a program by running it in the background, so you can do other things during it's execution. What should be in the heliport terminal?
Q. My classmates and I are doing a group project about building a heliport in NYC. My group is in charged of the heliport terminal and I wish to get some ideas from different people because most of us are only familiar with airports but heliports. The function of this heliport mainly serves the business passengers, but we are not restricing it. We want stores/restaurants/cafes that business travellers as well as other commercial travellers would possibly stop by. We somehow want to make it unique and different from a regular airport. Do not worry about space/area as it is a make-believe heliport so the number can be adjusted. Anybody has any idea? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

What connector to use to connect power wire to positive terminal?
Q. Hi im installing a system in my car, but i ran into a problem. The connector they provide in my wiring kit is a ring connector. My cars battery has the terminal on the side, not the top. When i put the ring connector on, i cant screw on the positive terminal to the battery. What would be a good solution to this problem? Thanks in advance! :)

A. There's a battery connector sold for the side post batteries, but you can just strip your of you power wire, separate the exposed wire in half then put one half of one side of the battery cable and the other half on the other side then screw it onto the battery. I did this with one of my friend's cars because he didn't feel it necessary to spend on the other option.

What are the benefits of earning a terminal degree?
Q. I am currently a teacher who has just earned a M.Ed.. I am currently looking at several schools to earn an Ed.D.. Is it worth it to earn a terminal degree when, as a teacher, I'll be paying more for the degree than I'll ever make as a public school teacher? Is just wanting to continue my education and having a doctoral degree worth it?
Asked by SB - Sat May 10 19:50:05 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I believe that it IS worth it to continue one's education even if the increase in pay won't compensate for it. You will benefit in many other ways. You will fulfill a personal goal, (you'll won't look back and ask "What if..."), you will open many more doors in your retirement. Maybe an adjunct teaching job at a local college would be the dessert of your career. Your achievements will gain you the respect of your students and peers. I say do it!

If you have a terminal illness should you be able to kill youself?
Q. Say you have a terminal Illness that you know will cause you pain and anguish should you have the right to kill yourself, (but only if you have a terminal illness.) Do others have the right to tell you that you can't? Are they allowed to tell you how to run your life?
Asked by sweetchik2211 - Mon Jun 5 23:38:08 2006 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I think we should all have the right to end our lives if we are terminal and the rest of our days would only be filled with pain and suffering. We are allowed to end a animals life if it is suffering but not a human life. I personally think this is totally rediculous but of course this is against the law. If more people would stand up and fight for our rights it may happen one day. If done in a medical/hospice controlled setting then I don't see anything wrong with it as long as the terminal patient has agreed to it and they are of sound mind.

How much time should we allow to park at the Baltimore cruise terminal?
Q. We recently cruised out of New York and it was a nightmare! We sat directly in front of the cruise terminal in our car for hours waiting for everyone to get parked. A. Baltimore cruise parking is not bad, you don't need advance reservations to park in the lot located on the South Locust Point Marine Terminal. Long-term parking is located within walking distance of the Passenger Building and courtesy/handicap shuttles are available. Parking fees cash or traveler's checks only.

How do I know which terminal to go to at DFW airport?
Q. I'm flying for the first time since I was 8yrs old. Where do I pick up my ticket for my flight in order to find out what terminal to go to? A. Your terminal will depend on what airline you are using. There should be signs directing you to the appropriate terminal on your way into the airport. If you want to be sure before going to the airport, check the website listed below. Just go through each terminal link until you find your airline.

What energy changes take place when a ball that is falling through the air reaches its terminal velocity?
Q. I know that at terminal velocity, kinetic energy remains constant. I know that potential energy decreases because the height changes and air friction against the ball causing heat but I know that is minimal. I really need to know also, where does all that extra potential energy go because before terminal velocity, I would have said kinetic energy but because this is constant, where does the bulk of the potential energy go. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Asked by supercalofragilistic - Sat Dec 22 17:14:24 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The kinetic energy might be constant, but you have to remember that at the point it attains its terminal velocity it is traveling at a great speed. KE is directly proportional to the square of velocity. The heat produced by air friction can not be ignored. There could be other forms of energy transformation taking place, such as sound, light, etc. But the sum of all these different forms of energy would still be equal to the initial potential energy of the ball . teddy boy

what is the third terminal for in digital camera betteries?
Q. There is a positive and negative terminal, but there also is another centre terminal with a T . What is this for? its a canon powerhot s40 but my pocketpc battery has the same layout three terminals. I think the first poster is correct and it just gives the batteries details.

A. You will have to tell us what camera and model you have and maybe we can help. My Nikon battery has a third terminal on it and it is the connection that communicates the batteries condition to the camera. Number of shots since last charge, percent of charge left and over all condition of the batteries long term life.
