Understanding (also called intellection) is a psychological process related to an abstract or physical object, such as a person, situation, or message whereby one is able to think about it and use concepts to deal adequately with that object.

An understanding is the limit of a conceptualisation. To understand something is to have conceptualised it to a given measure.

Examples

  1. One understands the weather if one is able to predict and to give an explanation of some of its features, etc.
  2. A psychiatrist understands another person's anxieties if he/she knows that person's anxieties, their causes, and can give useful advice on how to cope with the anxiety.
  3. A person understands a command if he/she knows who gave it, what is expected by the issuer, and whether the command is legitimate, and whether one understands the speaker (see 4).
  4. One understands a reasoning, an argument, or a language if one can consciously reproduce the information content conveyed by the message.
  5. One understands a mathematical concept if one can solve problems using it, especially problems that are not similar to what one has seen before.

How can I master and understand top paying keywords to make good Adsense money?
Q. I run two websites - one ghosts/hauntings and the other horror writers - and have Adsense ads on them. However, I need to know how to understand keywords more and click-through rates in order to make more money. So are there any good Adsense experts/webmasters out there would could advise me on increading my earnings?

A. I don't recommend the process of chasing the keywords with Adsense and thinking that creating a site around these high paying keywords will result in high Adsense earnings. Often, they only end up disappointed -- just like hundreds of publishers who went and created a site around the famous "M" word or "mesothelioma" -- when it was reported that Adwords advertisers were paying $110+ per click for this keyword. So websites focusing on the M keyword popped out of the Web. And what was the comment of these Adsense publishers hoping to cash in with this high paying keyword? That they can't even get more than $1 per click for the keyword -- definitely not the $110 or even $50 per click keyword that they were hoping for. Why? Because Google… [cont.]

How can I get my professor to understand that I deserve a chance?
Q. I asked a professor for a letter of recommendation, but the professor refuses citing the quality of my work as a reason. I understand that my work is mediocre, at best. However, I feel , since I have been a compliant and respectable student ,that I deserve a chance. I do not want to ask for a letter of this kind from someone who does not wish to write it. However, the professors ( due to my major) who are familiar with my work are very few, and I do not know what to do. All the answers have been honest. Thank you all. To clarify a bit ( not that it will change the answers) I never missed class, took work seriously, and got okay grades ( B's mostly ,although I prefer better). The problem is that the professor says that although I do well, [cont.]

A. The short answer is that you can't short of changing your ways. You don't specify what this letter of recommendation is for? an employer? graduate school? You have really answered your own question by admitting that your work is mediocre (and you go on to qualify it by saying 'at best'). Professors are a strange bunch (I know - I was a biochemistry professor for 30+ years) and reputation is very important to them. I would never have written a letter of recommendation for anybody unless tI felt they deserved it. In some cases, it puts my reputation on the line (and some people believe that the damaged reputation extends all the way to their department and institution). You mention that because of your major, there are very few… [cont.]

How do you understand the french and indian war in simpler terms?

A. The French and Indian war was a war that happened right before the Revolutionary war. The French and some Indian tribes joined forces to fight the British. British and France both said they owned the Mississippi river. It ended by France giving all of their land to Britain in North America. The peace treaty was called "The Treaty of Paris". Keep in mind some Indians helped the British, too. The Iroquois I think helped them. That should help a little and use wiki to help you more.
