How can I find the username of my wireless router?
Q. I setup my wireless internet at home five years ago and log in automatically since then. I have a new notebook now and forget my username and password. I may be able to recall the password If I know the username. Now the question is where can I check the username of the wireless system. Is my router's nickname same as username?

A. The name you see when you search for wifi is the router name, but the security code is different. The Username and password to get into the router control panel should be in the router manual, but it is usually admin admin or admin password. To get into the router control panel, get on a computer already connected to YOUR wifi and type 192.168.0.1 into the browser's url bar. If that doesn't work try 192.168.1.1. Now you can change the security code. You can't see you old security code, but you can now change it to something else. Write this down and tape it to the router. Now you can use the new code to get onto the internet. P.S. You will need to change it on your old laptop too if you want to ever use that.
