A. Why go backwards ? You probably can't make that change. I believe you can get cable connectors to connect sata to ide, or something like that.

A. You need the drivers for the chip set that controls the SATA bus. They should be available from the manufacturer of the motherboard in your laptop or from the chip set manufacturer.

A. Slipstream the SATA driver into your XP: There were cases where someone manage to install XP simply by changing SATA mode RAID to SATA mode IDE in the Bios setup.

A. If you want me to choose between these two, Dell favors more performance than Sony. But if you let me choose what brand I recommend, actually I might consider ASUS and HP/Compaq laptops. Sony laptops are just overpriced if you compare similar specifications to other laptop manufacturers. I found Dell a bit better but I'm still not considering this.

A. I think the Sony Vaios are very expensive for their components. A cheaper brand could probably do what you require for a lower price, with even better parts. But yes it would probably run AutoCAD. However it would be nice to have a better graphics card and maybe a little more ram just to be sure, Vista just chews up the ram. The graphics card should be something like a Nvidia or an ATI, with a minimum of 512mb.

A. You are right sony vaio is really stylish, but i dont think it is reliable. i own a sony vaio vgn-CS110E laptop. i got it about three month before for 1250$, but now after only 3 months i am facing alot of problems with it. sometimes the fans dont work so the laptop shutdown unexpectedly. the fans r noisy. battries dont work more than 2 hours, cant play latest games ( even sometime old ones ) and blah blah blah. but my uncle owns a HP. that is also stylish, just a bit bigger in size than my SONY. but he is using it more that 8 months, and he is happy from its performance and he has no complement. (I recommend hp)

Trouble with my vaio laptop :(?
Q. Hey there guys and girls. OK I got a Sony vaio FZ21M with Vista, however due to the music software I use Vista only hinders me as the programs fail to work. What I need is to be able to have the full range of drivers and utilities of the laptop but for XP instead of Vista. I have already found quite a neat program that inbeds "SATA" into a windows disk so that issue is out of the way... Now it comes down to finding the right XP drivers for my laptop (IF there is any) Any advice would be most awesome and it would be doing me a huge favor. Thanks very much guys :) Mr Tea
