How can someone show ties to their home country for a visa interview?
Q. My friend is going to be going to his visa interview in London to get a student visa to the US and he needs to show ties to England but we're not sure how we can do this?
Asked by Miriam C - Mon Sep 29 12:43:31 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well if he is coming to the U.S. to study I am pretty sure he already got an immigration form called I-20, now in addition to that he can always bring a sponsor's bank statement, proof of business or work, proof of property ownership and etc. etc. but it has to be something official like notarized and stuff. See the bottom line is he has to prove that he will return to his home country after completion of his degree here at the U.S. and in this case the verbal interview with the consular officer plays an important role too, the officer has to believe that this applicant will return to his home country after his education at the U.S. Good luck to your friend

what type of questions to expect on a partner/spouse visa interview for australia?
Q. My partner and I are applying for a partner/spouse visa. We both currently stay in London, he is Australian and will be returning in a year or so and I will be moving with him, we need to apply for this visa for that reason and were curious about what type of questions would be asked in the interview.
Asked by Nina - Sun Sep 24 08:09:12 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Believe me! They are going to ask each one of you questions seperately. From what time you went to bed to what time you woke up. (EXAMPLE of a question) They may ask your partner what time he leaves for work and he may answer 8:00am, but when they call you in they may ask you the same question about what time he leaves for work and you may say 9:00, that's telling the interviewer right their that something is not right, or they may ask what did you all have for breakfast he may say we didn't have breakfast this morning and you may say we had sausage and eggs. This is just an example of some of the questions they probaly will be asking you. So just be honest with the interviewer and everything will work out for the best.

What are the questions frequently asked during the fiance visa interview at the US embassy manila?
Q. Also what are all the needed documents to be bring at the embassy during the fiance visa interview
Asked by anne - Fri Jul 6 03:26:47 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Documents vary from Embassy to Embassy. You should check with the local embassy. You should definitely have a copy of the fiance visa petition (filed with the immigration), original approval notice and originals of all the documents submitted along with the visa petition. At the least you should have proof of (continuing) relationship.

A. Immigration and Customs has three major concerns. They want to be sure that people arriving in the country are paying all the necessary taxes; that they aren't going to commit crimes while they're in the country; that they aren't going to become a burden on society by being broke and unable to leave. Your friend should be able to show that he already has a return ticket to India and that he has enough money to cover his expenses while he's in Switzerland. If he can speak one of the local languages, that'll be a plus, too. And, if he's even been in trouble with the law, or has had friends who went on to become criminals, dissidents, or militants, he should be ready to explain why the Swiss shouldn't be worried about those connections. But… [cont.]

What are some of the standard interview questions for the IMMIGRANT visa interview?
Q. I am a US Citizen and my wife is going for her immigrant visa interview this week. What are some of the possible questions?
Asked by csdz0818 - Sun Oct 15 21:52:37 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You candownload the '100' questions at I sure hope she has been studying because she'll have to know about US history as well as government. And, btw, when she gets there, her interviewer will begin with some small talk: Did she have a difficult time finding the building? What is the weather like outside? Etc. Etc. This is actually for the interviewer to guage her speaking/listening comprehension so tell her to pay attention!! Best of luck.

A. if it's approved, you should have it within a week. however, many cases are put on temporary hold due to missing documents and other things. you probably won't have that much difficulty getting approval, it's a lot easier than most folks think. however, if for some reason you were turned down because you couldn't demonstrate a real relationship, you can always marry later, have her file a new petition and give it another shot. it would take some time though, but that would give you more opportunities to demonstrate your relationship.

How do i get an urgent Visa interview?
Q. I am a student in India and Ive been admitted to a University in Florida, USA. I just received my i20 recently, and I need to be in Florida by the 4th of Jan. But now, when I try to get a Visa interview, the website shows that none of the days are available for an interview till december end. Can anyone tell me how to fix an urgent appointment in December itself, so that I may be able to leave to the US immediately.
Asked by sid - Wed Dec 3 12:03:09 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Usually urgent appointment are only given in case of emergency, e.g. a family member falling ill. The fact that you did not apply in time is normally not sufficient reason to let you jump the queue. Call the US embassy and ask if you can get an earlier appointment - but don't get your hopes up too high.

Is it possible to get it soon so that i can buy confirm tickets.

A. It should take about 3 weeks to get your passport back. Don't confirm travel until you get the passport. You will not be able to go without it so it is best to just wait. If you do not have your passport back by the end of July then try to contact the agency. Everything will work out fine.

Visa Interview at the US Consulate in London soon?
Q. I am just about to have my fiance visa interview at the US Embassy in London, what type of questions am I to expect, does anyone have any previous experiences of this?
Asked by goldilocks - Mon Nov 5 17:35:21 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Why do you want to go to the US How will you support yourself Be prepared for a long long wait - and listen for your number, don't rely on the screens. Make sure you carry NOTHING remotely strange - you don't even get into the perimeter otherwise.Get there an hour at least an hour before your interview - blocks of people qeue outside from very early on. You have one quick interview where you show all your papers, have your photograph and fingerprints taken - then you wait and wait for the second where you are told whether you are ok or not. Your passport will be returned to you within a few days with the visa on it - and the whole process costs quite a bit too. Good luck - I was terrified!!

should my fiance bring our baby with him to his B2 visa interview?
Q. we are engaged but not living in the US or planning on moving there (i am a US citizen). my fiance doesn't have a lot of money, he stays at home with our daughter and we live in my income. do you think he should bring our 8 month old daughter to the visa interview? (she's a US citizen).
Asked by Kristin A - Mon Jun 1 10:13:18 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. His prospects for getting a B2 -- or any temporary visa - appear to be poor. He's engaged to a US citizen, the baby he would be bringing to interview is US citizen, you support him (which means he has no job & unable to support himself). Where are his ties to his country? What would compel him to return home? Where is his money to pay his supposedly brief vacation in the US, including all the "typical tourist" expenses? It will look to anyone like he intends "backdoor immigration" -- get in on tourist visa with no intention of returning to his own country. Given the facts you relate here, he should save his visa application fee and forget it. Taking the baby along on an interview will really burn his already-cooked goose.

Need advice on getting reference letters for a H1-B visa interview?
Q. I will be appearing for a H1-B visa interview soon starting from Oct 2008, but am unemployed at present at my home country because of a family member illness. Will my present unemployment reduce my chances of getting the visa? Also, how do the reference letters from my previously held positions need to be drafted other than mentioning my duration and skills used in the work place as they are required for such interviews as supporting documents? Can anybody please advise? Thanks a lot.
Asked by P - Fri May 2 12:54:11 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Hmm, why would you not already have letters of reference for the jobs that you have worked? You should always get a letter of reference from an employer as soon as you leave the job. The fact that you are getting them now will raise a LOT of suspicion with the consolate that you are trying to fraud your work experience. If you get them now, make sure you take a few pay stubs and your actual professional reference contact info (ie. previous supervisers phone #) with you when you go, so you can prove that you actually worked there. The "no qualified Americans can perform your work" part you can worry about later if you want to pursue a Green Card. For the purpose of your interview and getting your H-1B stamp/I-94 you just need to be able to… [cont.]
