What is the most visited house in the United States?
Q. I heard that the second most visited is Graceland. Would it be the White House? I didn't think that many people visited it as much as before since you can't even get a tour.
Asked by James D - Tue May 22 23:33:39 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It is most certainly the White House by a wide margin but the second most visited is not Graceland, it's Mount Vernon, home to George Washington for over 45 years.. Today the home has been restored to its appearance in 1799, the last year of George Washington's life. After the White House, it is the most visited historic home in America. It's tranquil beauty and elegant, yet functional, settings reflect the character of the man who was instrumental in establishing independence for a new nation and for guiding that evolving country through the first turbulent years of the union.

What culture shock did you encounter the first time you visited Australia?
Q. This is a question for people who were born in another country and later visited or moved to Australia. Thank you for your input.

A. I've been living in Australia for the past two years. One of my biggest cultural shock that the Australian society is VERY masculine, and I I'm talking here about both genders. The other issue was the excessive consumption of alcohol, it's huge!!! What else, Aussies are such meat-eaters; they LOVE meat, and as a vegetarian, this is making life a bit hard for me, just a bit. The transportation was a huge shock and disappointment for me. The trains are very slow and they take forever and ever and ever... I wish if they were more efficient. Aussies can be a bit too bad-tempered, women mainly especially with foreigners.

A. Not alot of culture shock per se. But the cars most people had were small and slow. Of course there's some difference in terminology, but it's really easy to pick up on it. It was surprising how much things cost in Britain, the taxes are pretty steep. The people are friendly and have a dry wit that I found funny.

How risky would it be if I have not visited a school and decided to attend?
Q. I recently have been accepted to the school I have wanted to go to that is out of state. But because of certain circumstances I have not visited and there is no way I can visit before freshman orientation. Should I take the risk and go or just go to a local university and wait till I can visit? Though if I go to school in state it would be cheaper but my EFC was 5940.
Asked by Rosie C - Mon Mar 3 20:02:09 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You should try checking online, some schools have virtual tours that you see. Think about it, is it a really good school, or can you go to a better one? Also, find out if you can still drop out after orientation, and what other schools might be willing to let you in. good luck!

Moderate to small crowd and very laid back. Now in the US, my friend and I actually flew back to Asia to visit it recently because I can't get it out of my system. How can i know what sites a computer has visited even when cookies have been deleted n hitory has been cleared?
Q. Are there any sites that keep track of the sites a computer has visited even when the history has been deleted because i have heard that there are , if yes which ones are they?
Asked by Nabeeha - Thu Oct 23 20:47:01 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. When things are "deleted" from a computer they aren't really gone usually. The files are simply marked as OK to write over or use that disk space by the computer again. Computer forensics is the science of uncovering deleted files as well as other tasks. Look into an un-delete program. There are several sites on the Internet that go into details about where browsing history is stored. It varies based on the computer operating system and web browser you are using. Beware don't get suckered into buying history eraser type software, if you really need it, be sure you pick a legitimate vendor.

A. If you need to check your visits, check your history. Otherwise 1., tell him you are under 18, in which case they can't do anything, 2., tell him to bill your credit card that you would have registered on his site or 3., and the most logical, ignore the message. Hit that big delete button and add him to your junk mail list. Let him take you to court.

What is one of the most beautiful, interesting places you have visited in the USA?
Q. My boyfriend and I are planning a trip in December and we are looking for a place to go that we have never been to. We live in Ohio and would like something with 8 hours driving time. Has anyone visited any place spectacular that might be worth our time to look into? let me fix that...we would like something that is within around 8 hours of driving time as we only have a few days to spend Also if you have a specific town or attraction in that state, it would be very helpful

A. It might be a little longer than 8 hours, but The North Shore of Lake Superior is really really nice, if your into hiking, seeing beautiful waterfalls, experiencing the outdoors. There is a lot to do, but it is way more fun in the summer. There is canoeing/kayaking near the boundary waters canoe area. If you like skiing/snowboarding, there are some really nice ski slopes in Lutsen, MN. I swear, its better than some places in Colorado. There are lots of unique shops that sell unique jewelry, funky art or other things from the locals along the scenic highway. There are several state parks, like Gooseberry Falls State Park which is really cool. I know there is a place where you can mush sled dogs. There is camping, unique little gift shops… [cont.]

Live in small town or rural area? Have you visited the largest City in your home State?
Q. My wife's Mother just visited the Philadelphia for the first time ever even though she has lived in PA her entire life. She is 78 years old. (She lives in Erie PA) I wonder how common this is. How often do you visit the largest city in your State if you do not live nearby?

A. I'll bet a good percentage of people in northwestern Pennsylvania have never been to Philadelphia. Just as a good percentage of people in western New York have never been to New York City. And I'm sure that most rural Alaskans have never been to Anchorage. It's probably more prevalent than you think. And yes, I have been to the largest city in my state.
