Waldorf education is a pedagogy based upon the educational philosophy of the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy. Learning is interdisciplinary, integrating practical, artistic, and conceptual elements. The Waldorf approach emphasizes the role of the imagination, developing thinking that includes a creative as well as an analytic component. The overarching goals of this educational approach are to provide young people the basis on which to develop into free, moral and integrated individuals, and to help every child fulfill his or her unique destiny, the existence of which anthroposophy posits. Schools and teachers are given considerable freedom to define curricula within collegial structures.

The first Waldorf school was founded in 1919; there are now about 1000 independent Waldorf schools and 1400 independent Waldorf kindergartens located in approximately sixty countries throughout the world, making up one of the world's largest independent educational systems. There are also Waldorf-based public and Charter schools, homeschooling environments, and schools for special education, and Waldorf methods have been adopted by numerous educators teaching in other state and private schools.

The educational approach is known in some countries as Steiner or Steiner-Waldorf education.

A. Research paper should have the following 1 Thesis and introduction 2 body 3 conclusion 4 Reference list (either MLA or APA style) In research paper, you have to back your topic with evidence. You have to quote from the sources. (MLA or APA style) Many students make the mistake of leaving this till the last minute and then they end up with a F or a D. make sure a week before your dud date, you have at least a draft which you can show to your instructor. He/she can guide you if you make any mistakes. The entire process will require a lot of hard work on your part, but the results will be more than satisfying if you give it your best. Start working at it now.

Where Should I Teach?
Q. I am currently a community college student in Northern California, pursuing my bachelors in English with a Minor in sociology and my single subject credentials. My problem is that the more I learn of California's changing public school system, I become increasingly nervous that the environment is not what I will anticipate as an educator. I am now considering teaching in private schools, Waldorf education, or teaching out of state... Can anyone offer any experiences or advice to my situation?

A. That is too broad a question for those of us not familiar with the west coast. However, I would suggest attending a teacher's convention . These have lots of teachers from all over the state, and often neighboring states, and many of them would probably be willing to chat with you. That way they can ask pertinent questions such as what is important to you. The site below is for the California Teacher's Association. Even if you are not a member, you can access several articles and list of conferences. Also , ask your teacher mentors for their advice. You can also go to the state education site and surf through there to find out what is going on, at least what is officially going on. Good luck. Personally, I wouldn't teach in… [cont.]
