Can I connect a wireless printer to both a wired desktop and wireless laptop?
Q. If I get a wireless printer, do all of the computers connected to it need to be wireless? Or can I connect both wired and wireless computers to it at the same time? I had heard that I might have to disconnect the wired connection for it to search wireless. Thanks!

How can I get a wireless network on my computer?
Q. I reformatted my computer yesterday but now wireless doesn't work, so I can't connect to the internet as there is no wireless network available on it. I was told that you don't need to install wireless, it should automatically work, but this isn't the case. Am I supposed to install the wireless from a disk that comes with the router? How can I get a wireless network up?

How to configure a wireless and a wired router?
Q. Right now, I have a Netgear Wireless Router and my teenage child goes on Myspace. I wanted to make my network more secure so, I wanted to run a non-wireless router into my teenager's computer and then plug the wireless router into the wired router. How complicated is this? Or, should I just upgrade to the 802.11n wireless router with a double firewall option.
Asked by SoCal - Sun Mar 30 22:40:36 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Here is one article I found on this, I have thought about doing this also, I decided to go with the netgear router that also does the stateful packet inspection along with the nat. This is the one I chose I still use it in g band works for me. If you want a good project go with the 2 router, especially if you already have them both. If not you can take the easy way out like I did. Good Luck.

Once installed go to start /settings then printers then on the printer in question right click it and go to sharing and share this printer on the network. A. some printers can be hooked straight into your router via ethernet cable, if yours can (you would be able to tell by it having a jack on the back of it that looks like a big phone jack), just plug it into your router and you should be able to access it from any computer on the network. if your printer doesnt have that then you would have to do a few more steps, first set your priinter up to your main desktop computer. once it is set up go to your printer settings and right click the f380 and go to properties. click the sharing tab and select the box that says share over network. after this is done you should be able to access it from any other computer on your network. good luck

A. Setting up a secure wireless network (you'll want it secure if you do any online shopping, banking etc) can be a little tricky. I would suggest reading the manual that comes with your modem, it should tell you how to do it. Once the network is set up, connecting with your laptop should be pretty straightforward.

A. You need to go to the computer manufactures web site and download the driver for the wireless card. You may have to do this from another computer and transfer the file to a flash drive and install it. Once installed properly it will show up in network connections and in Network adapters.

Q. I want to know how can I get the correct information about the kind of wireless card that my laptop has. I have one laptop that I bought old with a wireless card included, so I think it should be using a G wireless router, but my friend bought two laptops in different times, newer than mine, but still we don't know If they use N or G. How can I check in the system wich wireless already have included? Thanks

A. 1. You can find out what type of card/chipset you have by going into the system properties. Right click on My Computer | Click on Properties | Hardware | Device Manager | + next to Network Adapter. Then you can just look the card up on the Internet. 2. If you are trying to decide what kind of wireless router to buy, go ahead and get the N it is backwards compatible.

A. it should already be broadcasting a signal. If its not, then look on the box for a switch. If there is none, see the users manual and try to change the router settings. Go to your browser and type in 192.168.x.x or 127.0.0.1 based on your manual to see how to access the settings.

What is the difference between a wireless modem & wireless router?
Q. We're getting ready to switch to cable internet which will be hooked up through our desktop. FYI: it does not have wireless connectivity. I'd like the ability to use the internet on my laptop (which is ready for wireless connections), but I'm not sure what all we'll need to purchase. I don't want to buy any more than we need! Quick Additional Info/Question: the cable internet subscription will come with a cable modem. Does it need to be wireless in order to work with everything? Also, will we need a wireless router to get it to work with everything? OKAY...so what devices will I need?

How can check if somebody is using my wireless router?
Q. I purchased a Wireless router, I am using the cat 5 from my wireless router to my PC therefore I am not using the wireless capabilities of my router. I would like to monitor the users of my routers? How can I find who is using my wireless router ? If I type ipconfig/all will it tell me who is using my router?
Asked by Laura M - Sat May 2 15:13:03 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. no, login to your router. If you are using a netgear router, type in Routerlogin.com and if it asks for password and stuff type ADMIN for the username password for the password. Than it'll login to your router, it'll show a page with a whole bunch of tabs, to the left there will be an option that you can press that says attatched devices, click that and it'll tell you wat computers and devices are attached according to the computers name. so if your neighbors computer is called, DANS-PC it'll say that name as the connected device. If you dont want anyone logging onto ur router. add WEP or WPA security. Refer to your router manual for instructions on how to do this. It's a rather very simple process though,. Hope this helps
