Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings?
Q. I want Windows to configure my wireless settings automatically. In my Wireless Network Connection Properties, I have "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" checked. So it should work, right? Well, it does, but only for this session; if my computer goes to stand by, when I wake it up it won't connect and the "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" box is unchecked. How can I get this box to always stay checked? What could be causing this issue? I've checked Admin Tools > Services, and Wireless Zero Configuration is both Started and Automatic.

A. Try this, right click my computer and then click manage, double click services and applications, doubleclick services. look down to the bottom and find wireless zero configuration and doubleclick it. Change startup type to automatic. Now the service should start automatically upon each reboot.

How can I return my wireless internet settings to default settings?
Q. My younger brother accidently changed a few settings on my wireless internet connection. He has no idea what he did. How can I restore these settings. Right now, I'm not even using my PC because "internet explorer can't display the web page." Please provide original answers, as I have already tried repairing my connection for 2 hours. By the way, my icon in the bottom of my desktop says I have "excellent connection." Something's wrong!

A. If you don't know what was changed, then you won't be able to fix it properly. Best is to start from scratch. Re-Setup your wireless network as instructed by manufacturer. Repair will not help you if wireless settings were changed.

A. As long as your router's settings are not set to "N-Only" it should work... Nintendo DS supports Wireless B connections, but according to the Nintendo site, G and N wireless networks should work as well... Also, the WEP key is usually the same thing as the passkey.

A. You need to check on the router, the ip address for this is not always the same as certain rude ignorant people will make you believe. Go to start/run and type cmd and enter, then type ipconfig and enter in the command Window. The bottom number is the default gateway (router) address. Type this in the browser address bar. When you get to the login page you need to enter the password. This may be admin or password or an empty password. Then go to the wireless security settings and you should see the key. There may be a button to make it visible.

Q. I have a Linksys router (WRT150N) and I can successfully link my computer to the router using the intstalation CD. When I attempt to print off my wireless network settings to get the network key, it disconnects me. Is the encryption key for the router supposed to be the same as the network key? A. You will have to look for the reset button on your router, and press it for about 20 seconds. Then you will have to set it up again how you had it.

A. you would need to get valid ip address settings including ip address ( which would be assigned originally by the dhcp server at your school ) the subnet mask , dns server etc. Once you have those you need to connect ur machine to the router and disable dhcp on your router and assign the ip address settings from above to your router ( provided that they do not conflict with anyone else ) Once that is done you need to statically assign an ip address, subnet mask , dns server the same as your routers range to your computer(s) ie ip address : 192.168.x.100 subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 router 192.168.x.1 DNS server : 192.168.x.1 where x is either 0 or 1 If the dhcp servers dns server ip address on your school site is 192.168.1.1 which i… [cont.]

What is TX Rates in my Wireless Router Settings?
Q. What does this option mean. If I put it to a higher number will it increase my signal strength with wireless products like my PSP. TX Rates Select the transmission rates depending on the speed of your wireless network. You can select from a range of transmiision speeds, or you can select Auto to let Router to select automatically. The default is Auto.
Asked by josh4cfc - Thu Oct 23 06:53:05 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Leave it at the Auto setting; the wireless broadcast will run as fast as signal strength permits; the manual settings are usually used to throttle down below maximum capable settings. Even if you were to select a speed faster than conditions permit, it would slow down to enable transmission. Signal strength is not what you will be adjusting as this is a legal maximum setting you cannot adjust.
